June 1, 2019 Tyler, The Creator's offbeat album Igor debuts at #1 in the US, beating the far more traditional and trendy Father Of Asahd by DJ Khaled, the heavy favorite. Igor goes on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

January 21, 2017 "Raindrop... drop-top..." the Atlanta rap trio Migos hit #1 in America with the meme-worthy "Bad and Boujee."

May 22, 2016 Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper becomes the first streaming-only entry on Billboard's albums chart when it debuts at #8.

August 23, 2014 The Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack, an awesome mix of '70s hits, goes to #1 in America, where it stays for two weeks.More

June 7, 2014 Powered by a Clueless-themed video, "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX hits #1 in America, where it stays for seven weeks. Many are surprised to learn that Azalea, who raps like she's from the Dirty South, is from Australia.

September 26, 2012 Pink, aka "P!nk," lands her first #1 album in America with The Truth About Love. Her sixth studio album, it features the hits "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" and "Just Give Me A Reason."

April 4, 2012 The single "Boyfriend" by Justin Bieber debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's the third-highest first-week sale at 600,000 copies sold. Lots of teenage girls want to be Bieber's girlfriend.

March 17, 2012 After gaining exposure on the show Glee and in a Super Bowl commercial, "We Are Young" by Fun hits #1 in America, where it stays for six weeks. The song was inspired by what frontman Nate Ruess remembers from a drunken night that didn't end well.

November 19, 2011 17-year-old Justin Bieber hits #1 with his Christmas album Under The Mistletoe, making him the only teenager ever to top the chart with a holiday album.

September 10, 2011 "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 goes to #1 in America. It's their first song written with help from outside writers (Benny Blanco, Shellback and Ammar Malik), a move that gives them a second wind and a string of hits that includes "Payphone," "One More Night" and "Animals."

March 12, 2011 At 78, Yoko Ono becomes the oldest performer to land a #1 Dance hit when "Move On Fast" tops the chart. Over the next few years she clocks several more #1 hits on that chart, setting a new record each time. The last is in 2017 with a new version of her song "Hell in Paradise," which tops the chart when she's 84.

March 5, 2011 Justin Bieber, 17, hits #1 with Never Say Never - The Remixes, a companion to his Never Say Never concert film. This makes him the only male solo artist with two #1 albums before turning 18. Before the year is over he adds a third with his Christmas album Under The Mistletoe.

May 15, 2010 Usher hits #1 in America with his Will.i.am collaboration "OMG," giving him chart-topping hits in the '90s, '00s, and '10s.

May 1, 2010 "Nothin' On You" by the rapper B.o.B hits #1 in America. It features vocals from Bruno Mars, who also co-wrote and co-produced the song. He lands his own #1 hit a few months later with his debut single as a lead artist: "Just The Way You Are."

December 26, 2009 Thanks to a Facebook campaign to keep yet another X Factor winner from claiming the spot, "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine becomes the UK Christmas #1, 17 years after the song was first released. "A little dose of anarchy for the Christmas holidays is good for the soul," Rage guitarist Tom Morello says.

September 26, 2009 Jay-Z lands his 11th #1 album with The Blueprint 3, breaking Elvis Presley's record for most #1 albums by a solo artist. He extends the record to 14 before Taylor Swift ties it in 2024 with The Tortured Poets Department.

April 18, 2009 Keith Urban lands his first #1 album on the Billboard 200 with Defying Gravity, which includes the hits "Kiss A Girl" and "Sweet Thing."

October 18, 2008 T.I. claims the top two spots on the Hot 100 with "Live Your Life" (featuring Rihanna) at #1, trailed by "Whatever You Like."

September 30, 2008 Hot on the heels of the mega-successful Evolution of Robin Thicke, Robin Thicke's third solo album, Something Else, debuts at #3 on the Billboard 200. The album moves 140,000 copies in the first week.

May 24, 2008 Forty-two years after releasing his first album, Neil Diamond scores his first #1 when Home Before Dark tops the albums chart.

May 17, 2008 Madonna's Hard Candy album hits #1 in America, her seventh to hit the top spot.

August 11, 2007 "Beautiful Girls," the debut single for 17-year-old Sean Kingston, goes to #1 in America, making him the first artist born in the '90s to land a #1 hit.

July 14, 2007 The album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus goes to #1, as did the first soundtrack from the Disney show Hannah Montana the previous year. Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah on the show, is now being promoted as a singer under her real name, not just her character.

November 11, 2006 The soundtrack to the Disney series Hannah Montana goes to #1, and six of its songs make the Hot 100. Hannah is played by 13-year-old Miley Cyrus, who sings all the songs on the album.More

July 22, 2006 The Johnny Cash album American V: A Hundred Highways, released three years after his death, goes to #1, becoming his only studio album to top the chart. It's part of a series of unadorned albums produced by Rick Rubin that started with American Recordings in 1994.
